DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sikaflex 291<\/strong><\/a> is a special one-component Polyurethane sealant, specifically designed for applications in the shipbuilding industry. This sealant cures upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, forming an elastic and durable elastomer. The product meets the standards of the International Maritime Organization and is manufactured under the ISO 9001\/14001 quality assurance system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

APPLICATIONS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sikaflex 291<\/strong><\/a> has diverse applications and is suitable for shipbuilding technology. It is used to create elastic, vibration-damping joints and to seal internal and external seams. The product bonds well with materials commonly used in the shipbuilding industry such as wood, metals, various metal primers and topcoats (two-component), ceramic materials, and plastics. However, Sikaflex 291 should not be used with brittle materials such as glass, plexiglass, and polycarbonate. APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Surface preparation:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ensure the surface is clean, dry, free of grease and dust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adhesion can be improved by cleaning the surface with Sika Cleaner and appropriate Sika Primer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puncture the protective membrane of the sealant tube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cut the nozzle tip according to the joint width and apply the sealant with a manual or pneumatic gun, avoiding air entrapment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use the entire tube shortly after opening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not apply at temperatures below 5\u00b0C or above 40\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjustment and finishing:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjust and finish before the sealant skins over, using Sika Tooling Agent N.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The compatibility of other finishing agents should be tested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cleaning and storage:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uncured SikaFlex 291 can be cleaned with Sika Remover 208 or an appropriate solvent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once cured, use mechanical means for cleaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wash hands and skin with Sika Handclear Towel or appropriate industrial hand cleaner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Painting:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SikaFlex 291 can be painted after surface curing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Test the compatibility of the paint material before use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do not bake-paint over Sikaflex 291 when it is not fully cured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
